CARES Act/Coronavirus Relief Funds (CRF) Grant Application For Small Businesses in Crow Wing County

Funding Information

  • Eligible applicants may request up to $10,000 in CRF Grant assistance based upon need. Actual grant award will be based on number of people served and urgency of needs addressed.
  • Applications will be considered and acted on by the County Board.
  • The grant application will be considered public information for auditing purposes only. The attachments will be considered private data.

Eligible Applicants

  • Non-profit organizations that can demonstrate an increase in demand for services due to COVID-19, increased expenses related to COVID-19, or can make an impact for individuals or the community in response to COVID-19 and related issues.
  • All eligible applicants must have a physical location in Crow Wing County and serve the residents of Crow Wing County.
  • All eligible applicants must be registered with the Minnesota Secretary of State and have been operating since March 1, 2019.
  • Non-profits must not claim expenses submitted for CRF funding from Crow Wing County against any other Local, State, or Federal grant/relief funding.

Ineligible Applicants

  • Religious organizations without a social services component.
  • A separate application process will be applicable to for-profit businesses.

Application Requirements

  • The CARES Act/Coronavirus Relief Grant Fund (CRF) – application must be completed in its entirety by the applicant and submitted via the APPLY HERE link below by no later than September 18, 2020, in order to be considered.   • A copy of the most recent IRS tax exempt determination letter.
  • Listing of eligible expenses incurred due to COVID-19 and supporting documentation (i.e. Invoices)
  • Grant recipients agree to provide documentation of previous expenses incurred as a result of COVID-19 and, on a monthly basis, provide supporting documentation of any additional expenses incurred after dispersal of the CRF Funds.

Any unused funds must be returned to Crow Wing County by November 15, 2020.

Funding Information

  • Eligible applicants may request up to $10,000 in CRF Relief funds assistance based upon need.

  • The grant application will be considered public information for auditing purposes only. The attachments will be considered private data.

Eligible Applicants

  • Small businesses with 50 or less employees as of March 1, 2020. For the purpose of this program, a Full Time Equivalent will be equal to at least 32 hours per week.  For those working less than 32 hours, divide the number of hours by 32 to calculate FTE (i.e. 24 hours per week/32 = 0.75 FTE).  Employees for this grant program may be either W-2 employees or independent contractors.
  • Eligible applicants must have been temporarily closed due to Executive Order 20-04 and later clarified by Executive Order 20-08.
  • All eligible applicants must have a physical, commercial location, whether owned or leased, that is located in Crow Wing County.
  • All eligible applicants must be in good standing with Crow Wing County.
  • All eligible applicants must be registered with the Minnesota Secretary of State and have been operating since March 1, 2020.
  • Businesses are eligible to apply for CRF funding from only one local unit of government.

Ineligible Applicants

  • Professional services organizations such as but not limited to accountants, attorneys, etc.
  • Primarily generate income from gambling activities.
  • Corporate chains, multi-state chains.
  • Businesses that primarily sell pawned merchandise, guns, tobacco, or vaping products.
  • Businesses that generate any part of its income from adult-oriented activities.
  • Businesses that derive income from passive investments; business-to-business transactions, real estate transactions; property rentals or property management; billboards; or lobbying.
  • A separate application process will be applicable to non-profit organizations.

Application Requirements

  • The CARES Act/Coronavirus Relief Funds (CRF) application must be completed in its entirety by the applicant and submitted via the APPLY HERE link below by no later than September 18, 2020, in order to be considered. Please direct questions to Tyler Glynn, BLAEDC tyler@growbrainerdlakes.org
  • Grant recipients agree to provide documentation of how funds were spent for COVID-19 related expenses incurred during the time frame, 3/1/2020 to 12/1/2020, within 60 days following grant dispersal.

Any unused funds or funds that the County deems used for ineligible costs must be returned to Crow Wing County by December 1, 2020.
